May 2012

Hello fellow rockers! I'm very excited to present our newest series of lessons on Scales. Last week I worked on the video lesson Playing the G Major Scale starting with the root on the sixth string. This week I'll be finishing the G Major Scale with a root note on the fith string.

This leaves us with more scales, such as the Natural Minor Scale; which I'll be working on next week. So keep practicing and playing great guitar!

April 2012

Happy Easter and Happy Rockin! Spring is here and with it comes a new series of guitar maintenance tips, which is our new Guitar Tips set of videos we'll be posting shortly in our YouTube Channel.

Update on the Cliffs of Dover Challenge. I haven't had much of a chance to practice the song as much as I would like too. But; it was quite evident after a few weeks of practice and heavy string bending at the 12 - 16 frets that my beloved Strat needed its frets redressed. I have owned and played the Strat on a weekly basis non-stop for a little over 6 years and this is the first time it has gone to the Guitar Shop to have major maintenance done. So, I hope to have my beloved Strat "Sarah" with me in a few weeks. In the meantime, I continue to work on some other awesome tutorials.

Until then, Happy Jamming!

March 2012

It has been a couple of weeks since our latest guitar lesson video on left hand exercises was posted on our YouTube Channel. Thus far the video has been seen a little over 250 times. We are still working on more guitar lesson videos within the next couple of weeks or so.

With regards to the cover on Cliffs of Dover from Eric Johnson, I must confess that it has been quite a challenge to even play a few bars with minimal mistakes. Nevertheless, I find that the more I practice the song the more respect I feel for the man.

I've been thinking of producing a guitar solo challenge this summer, and giving away a few prizes to the top three guitarists; more on this later.

Keep jamming!

February 2012

Our private lessons students have been progressing steadily. Which makes me very proud of them. Soon we should be posting videos of some of them playing the guitar. More on that during the following weeks.

A quick update on my 2012 Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover challenge. Besides listening to the song over 100 times now, I've have started transcribing the first couple of bars of the song into my Guitar Pro 6 software. I won't be discouraged as I fully recognize that I'll need to hone my skills and practice a lot just to be able to get through the song.

But, as my old friend Mr. Thomas Edison would say: "I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward."

Happy Rockin'
